We'veHadAWedding

Wondered where I've been? Well, our daughter and her Matt decided to tie the knot in a simple ceremony this past Saturday. Actually you have to call it an elopement with parents begging to come...which is what I did.

I am surprised more couples don't do this elopement thing with the ridiculous cost of weddings these days coupled with the stress of who to invite and who to have in the wedding and who is hurt because you didn't have them bring their accordian and sing and on and on. In the end, they just wanted to be together.

After three months of separation while she was a Boot Camp and the recooping period after she got home, they just upped and got hitched. I don't think I could have picked a better man for my daughter than Matt. He is a great guy...even after I freaked out and blubbered and cried and vented on him...he's still talking to me. I think I have a lot to learn about being a mother-in-law.

Somehow I need to invent a clamp to go on my mouth, and put a "butt-out" reminder on the mirror in the bathroom, the car mirror, attached to my purse and sharpied on the back of my hand. My Mother used to say, "I keep my foot in my mouth so often, I need to flavor it with peppermint!"

There is a scripture that says..."keep the door of my mouth and set a guard over my lips." Yep, that one needs to go right by the telephone. One thing is for sure, hubby and I love our daughter and absolutely adore Matt.

Now we will enter into a time of parties and showers and another ceremony. They are an unconventional couple who are planning on heading to Bible school here soon. So look for more pictures and comments as we head through yet another chapter of the "Newlywed Saga".

Smiles and Hugs.

Wow. Congratulations to your daughter and new son in law and to you! The pic of them is lovely. What an adorable couple. You must be proud and rightly so!
Enjoy the round of newlywed activities and may they be blessed with unity, mutual respect and God at the centre of everything they endeavour.

Awww, how cool is that? Congratulations all around!!

Being a mother-in-law is tricky, especially when it's your daughter who married. We tend to still think we are entitled to input into their life. My best advice is to not know every moment of their every day. And then I try to keep my mouth shut....it's hard.

well doesn't that beat all?

My hubby and I always mull over that to elope would have been a good idea.

Mucho less stress.

Congradulations, and glad you like the boy.
